Each session is geared to the individual child and parents. Other family members (siblings, caregivers, grandparents) are often included as a part of the session. The session can be given in the practitioner’s office or natural environment (home, daycare, park).
During each session:
- Discuss a child’s present abilities and any concerns
- Observe what a child is doing
- Develop a relationship with child through face-to-face communication, play and songs
- Hands-on work to increase your child’s body awareness, body mapping, and to facilitate specific developmental movements i.e. rolling, playing on belly, crawling, standing, walking
- Explain and demonstrate how changes in movement and body awareness result in learning through exploration, problem solving, and communication
- Teach parents/caregivers body mapping techniques, specific activities, routines, songs and games that support their child’s development
